🐾👑 FROM TILLEY TO JELIAH: WHO RESCUED WHO? 👑🐾
Every adoption has a story.
But every once in a while, you get to watch a dog find the person who seems to have been waiting specifically for her.
Not long ago, we knew her as Tilley.
She was a Texas country girl growing up alongside her sister Mae. They played together, explored together, occasionally disagreed like sisters do, and Tilley made sure Mae always knew who was boss. 😂
Then Tarrick came along.
Tilley became Jeliah, packed her imaginary suitcase and headed off to start an entirely different life.
And apparently, she neglected to tell us that she was leaving Texas to become New Jersey royalty. 👑😂
Because Tarrick absolutely DOTES on this girl.
Jeliah has custom-made patches for her harness. She has had a gold necklace. Yes… GOLD. 😂 And she even got her own special cookie that said:
❤️🐾 “WHO RESCUED WHO?” 🐾❤️
Looking at these two, we’re not entirely sure anyone knows the answer.
Now, about that gold necklace…
Aunt Lori warned Dad that collars and necklaces have to come OFF before Jeliah goes into her kennel.
The first necklace didn’t survive.
We don’t think Tarrick needs that reminder twice. 🤣
But don’t worry. Queen Jeliah has bigger responsibilities these days.
She got her driver’s permit! 🚗🐾
There is just one tiny problem…
“Dad, I got the permit… but how exactly am I supposed to turn the steering wheel with these paws? And WHERE are my thumbs?!” 😂
We think Tarrick will remain the designated chauffeur.
Besides…
Queen Jeliah doesn’t drive. Queen Jeliah gets driven. 👑🚗
And driven she is.
This former Texas country girl now walks with her dad along the Hudson River boardwalk, watching the ferries pass and taking in the city lights. She can even look across the water and see the Statue of Liberty. 🗽
Sometimes I stop and think about that.
A little rescue dog who once knew the Texas countryside is now strolling along the Hudson River with her dad.
She’s learning too.
Stay. Come. Spin.
New commands. New adventures. New sights.
A whole new world.
Back home in Texas, her sister Mae misses her. But Mae has found herself a new best friend named Casey.
And wouldn’t you know it?
Casey bosses Mae around just like Tilley did. 😂❤️
So I think Mae is going to be just fine.
And so is Jeliah.
Because as wonderful as the Hudson River, city lights, custom patches, special cookies and even gold necklaces may be, none of those things are what makes this adoption story special.
It’s Tarrick.
It’s having a dad who thinks about her.
Who teaches her.
Who takes her places.
Who spoils her.
Who laughs at her.
Who plans his life with her in it.
Who absolutely, completely and unapologetically adores his dog.
That is what we dream about when we rescue them.
We don’t rescue dogs so they can simply leave our care.
We rescue them hoping someday someone will love them even more than we do.
Tarrick, you did that.
Thank you for choosing adoption and for giving our girl a life bigger than anything we could have imagined for her.
That little cookie really did ask the perfect question:
WHO RESCUED WHO?
Maybe the answer is…
They rescued each other. ❤️🐾
Tilley found her person.
Jeliah found her Dad.
And one Texas country girl finally became the queen she always knew she was. 👑🐾🗽
