Cannoli has her surgery consultation set for Friday May 27,2022. If the vet does the surgery same day. She will spend 1 to 2 nights at the clinic for observation. She is going to Nederland Vat clinic +1 409-254-6682. Where she will be treated by Dr Brady Hanson.
Sweet sweet Cannoli had her barium X-rays done today. Remember Cannoli saved from Corpus Christi Animal Shelter. At 9 weeks old she had a watermelon head. And a tiny body. But even then she was cute. No other rescue would touch her. She was very sick. She could not keep her food down. Regurgitated everything. CCACS gave her less than 24 hrs to be tagged. Rescue only. The shelter vet suspected megasophogas. I just wonder if the pos owner that let her roam knew something was wrong.
JFSAR took a chance on her. She spent 2 weeks in isolation at a vet clinic. The techs figured out if they held her upright to feed. She could keep it down. 3 vets recommended i wait to see if she out grew the condition. I bought high elevated food and water bowls for her kennel. We both adjusted to her having very limited play time. Her breathing is horrible. And life in a kennel. It is her breathing that made me explore medical options. 3 weeks ago. I began letting her live with my pack. She is a prime example of what happens when puppies are not socialized. She tries to bite any one and any thing. Please socialize your puppies snd dogs.
What Dr Garret showed me on the xray this morning shocked me. Its a miracle she is alive. His explanation: Cannoli is a text book case of megasophagus . See pics. The esophagus is the long tube. Just to the rt of it. Notice the white spot. That is what happened. As a puppy that should have opened as she grew to expand with her size. Thus allowing the food to pass through. Cannolis never opened. That is why she literally has to eat standing up. And liquids only or a gruel. Hello blender. But what is more dangerous is her heart is right there. She is at risk of congentital heart failure at any moment.
Please consider a donation.. even 5.00 helps. Thank you. Or choose from our Amazon wish list , Chewy or Cannolis Cuddly wish list.
